Trova privacy policy

Last updated: 4 November 2026

This policy explains what data Trova, Myrtus’s audiobook app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and CarPlay, handles. In short: Myrtus does not collect personal data. Trova only communicates with the Audiobookshelf servers you sign in to.

Controller

María Dolores Gálvez Martínez, trading as “Myrtus”. Tax ID (NIF) 48703658P. C/ Reina Victoria 18, 30820 Alcantarilla, Murcia (Spain). Email: dev@myrtus.es.

Who it talks to

Only your Audiobookshelf servers: you or someone you trust runs them, and Myrtus has no access to them. Trova asks them for your library, the covers and the audio, and sends them your progress, your bookmarks and your listening sessions, like any Audiobookshelf app.

What it keeps on your devices

  • Each server’s address, your username and the session keys, in the device keychain. Your password is not stored.
  • The books you download, your progress and the bookmarks waiting to be sent while you’re offline.
  • Read along transcripts and your settings.

The Apple Watch receives its own sign-in from the iPhone and, when the iPhone is nearby, what’s playing on it, directly between your two devices.

Read along

The audio is transcribed on your iPhone or Mac with Apple’s speech recognition, without being sent anywhere. The first time, the device downloads the model for the book’s language from Apple.

Permissions

  • Local network: to reach a server in your home.
  • Siri: to ask for a book by voice. Apple handles the request under its privacy policy; Trova only receives the title you ask for.
  • Motion: to notice when you shake your iPhone and extend the sleep timer. Nothing is stored.

What it doesn’t do

  • There is no Trova account and no sign-up with Myrtus.
  • It doesn’t send your data to Myrtus or to third parties.
  • It has no ads, analytics or tracking, and doesn’t use the advertising identifier.
  • It doesn’t access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.

The purchase

Apple handles the purchase and payment on the App Store. Myrtus only receives sales reports from Apple with no data that identifies you.

Backups

iCloud or computer backups include your settings and transcripts like any other app’s; downloaded books are not backed up. Apple manages those backups; Myrtus has no access to them.

Deleting your data

When you sign out of a server, Trova deletes its downloads, progress, bookmarks and transcripts from your devices. Deleting the app deletes everything. What’s on your server is managed by whoever runs it.

Your rights

As Myrtus doesn’t hold your data, there’s nothing you need to ask us for. If you have questions, write to dev@myrtus.es. You can also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).

Changes

If a future version changes how Trova handles your data, we will update this page before releasing it.
